Dated oh so very dated.
Yes when Rob read a review of these films he thought they must be good. So they may be a little old but they could still have quality.
Oh my it's more comedy than anything. How can anyone at any time ever think this is scary or even counts as horror. It's so funny it's like a spoof of itself.
I recommend this film it'll make you laugh so much something horrible will happen.
The most obvious is the sheer lack of acting anywhere. The over the top stare into the camera and speak serious technique is the kind of thing you'd expect to see in something like the simpsons and never in a real film. Also they are in somewhere like Germany but they have no German accents of any kind.
The story line is also very silly. (Spoiler alert) Really the most comical moment of the entire film is the idea of two brains a "normal brain" and a "criminal brain." Oh come on.
In another scene the monster picks up a small girl and throws her harmlessly into a shallow area of a lake where she vanishes (entirely) not even trying to swim or anything instead just goes down and stays down. Then the father walks into town carrying her saying that she has been murdered. There is no proof of this. The monster did her no harm instead of pickering her up and throwing her a very very short distance.
And I haven't even begun on the second film yet. The second one is even sillier but they do try to present the monster as more of a misunderstood character whose ashamed of his own sight. But not for long.
I tell you all watch and enjoy because it will make you laugh and it will never ever ever (and I mean it) give anyone the creeps. The people in the 1930's must have been shocked at everything if they found this so shocking. They can't be serious.
So funny.

Oh my Rob, I attest to that for sure.
If you want a real laugh, look for a film called '9th plan from outer space' or something like that. For that matter, anything by a guy called Ed Wood. That guy was a loony!

Hmm maybe I shall. If it comes on tv or something. Old stuff is really fun to see because they're considered classics even though they are just plain baaaaad.
Also the old music from these film never even slightly fit the film at all.
